Scots go for Gold in new charity challenge

Gold Challenge - a new charity challenge - kicked off in Scotland on Friday at Glasgow's Scotstoun Stadium, at an event supported by Stripe.

Commonwealth, European and World Championships medallist Lee McConnell joined a host of Olympic and Commonwealth hopefuls including Colin McMorrin (Scottish Canoeing / Kayaking), Rita Yuan Gao and Andrew Bowman (Badminton Scotland) to help Gold Challenge inspire Scots to challenge themselves and participate in a multitude of Olympic and Paralympic sports while raising significant funds for charity.

The ambition of Gold Challenge, a not for profit organisation, is to raise £20m for charity by the end of 2012 and such is the potential of the initiative to inspire the country, Gold Challenge has garnered support and partnership from over 100 leading charities – 40 of which have a presence in Scotland. Many of these charities attended the event at Scotstoun Stadium and were able to take part in some of the sports for themselves.

Working in partnership with the British Olympic Association and ParalympicsGB and Active Nation as part of the Games Legacy plan for Scotland, Gold Challenge will allow people throughout Scotland to test their skills and develop their competitive edge in 5, 10, 20 or 30 Olympic or Paralympic sports.
